Which is better, System76 Oryx Pro or Surface Pro 11?
System76 Oryx Pro is better for Linux performance, while Microsoft Surface Pro 11 is better for tablet portability and touch use. System76 Oryx Pro offers a 16-inch screen and discrete graphics options; Microsoft Surface Pro 11 has a 13-inch touchscreen and a detachable design.
Choose System76 Oryx Pro for Linux development, a larger workspace or graphics-heavy work. Choose Microsoft Surface Pro 11 for handwritten notes, media, travel and Windows apps in a tablet format. The Surface keyboard is a separate accessory, so compare complete bundles rather than tablet-only listings.
Neither product is a universal winner. Check required software, ports, memory and storage first. Snapdragon compatibility matters for some Windows apps, while System76 Oryx Pro is the natural fit for shoppers who specifically want a Linux laptop.
Which laptop is the best overall Black Friday 2026 pick?
Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 13.8-inch Snapdragon X Elite is the best overall pick for many shoppers who want a conventional Windows laptop, with a 13.8-inch touchscreen and a familiar clamshell layout.
The Surface Laptop balances portability and everyday productivity without the extra setup of a DIY laptop or the bulk of a gaming system. Its Snapdragon processor is a good match for common work and study tasks, but shoppers should verify compatibility for specialist apps, games and peripherals.
For a different priority, choose System76 Oryx Pro for Linux and discrete graphics, or Framework Laptop 13 for repairability. Black Friday 2026 listings can package different memory, storage and screen options, so compare the model configuration rather than relying on the product-family name alone.
Which product is best for gaming and creative work?
Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 16-inch RTX 5070 Ti is the gaming-focused pick, with a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 display and dedicated NVIDIA graphics.
System76 Oryx Pro also suits graphics-heavy work when its selected configuration includes a discrete GPU, with the added appeal of Linux. Confirm the exact graphics chip and the software support you need before buying either machine. GPU names alone do not tell the whole story; cooling, memory and screen configuration matter too.
Microsoft Surface Pro 11 and the thin-and-light productivity models focus on portability rather than high-end gaming. Integrated graphics suit everyday tasks, but shoppers planning demanding games or sustained visual workloads should prioritize a dedicated GPU.
Which laptop is easiest to carry and use for travel?
Microsoft Surface Pro 11 13-inch OLED Snapdragon X Elite is the most flexible travel pick, combining a 13-inch touchscreen with a detachable tablet design.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 and ASUS Zenbook S 14 are strong alternatives for shoppers who prefer a standard laptop keyboard. Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 also targets mobile work, with a 14-inch display and business-focused design.
A detachable device saves space in tablet mode, but the Surface Pro keyboard is an extra accessory to account for. Compare total packed accessories, ports, screen size and battery information for the exact configuration. A smaller screen is convenient on the move; a 14-inch or 16-inch panel gives more room for split-screen work.
What should shoppers check before choosing a Black Friday laptop?
Black Friday 2026 laptop shoppers should compare at least 4 details: configuration, included accessories, software compatibility and warranty terms.
First, verify memory, storage, processor, graphics and display resolution on the exact listing. Product names cover multiple versions, and a screen or GPU option can change the laptop’s best use. For Microsoft Surface Pro 11, confirm whether the keyboard and pen are included.
Next, check that essential apps work with the selected processor and operating system. That step is especially useful for Snapdragon Windows models and Linux laptops. Finally, review return conditions, support coverage and upgrade options. A strong match is the laptop that fits your workflow and the complete configuration, not just the most prominent headline specification.
Buying Guide
Choose your operating system first
Pick System76 Oryx Pro for a Linux-first workflow, or choose a Microsoft Surface or Lenovo Windows model for Windows apps. Check compatibility for specialist software before selecting a Snapdragon laptop.
Match the screen to your routine
A 13-inch screen favors portability; a 14-inch display balances travel and workspace; a 16-inch panel gives more room for gaming and multitasking. Compare resolution and refresh rate, not size alone.
Compare complete configurations
Confirm processor, memory, storage, graphics and display on the exact Black Friday 2026 listing. Product families often include several configurations, and the name alone does not identify the full specification.
Account for accessories and upgrades
Microsoft Surface Pro 11 needs a compatible keyboard for laptop-style use, while Framework Laptop 13 DIY Edition involves component selection. Check what comes in the box and which parts are upgradeable.
Buy for your real workload
Prioritize a discrete GPU for demanding games and visual workloads, repairability for long-term customization, or a lightweight touchscreen for travel. Compare warranty and return terms alongside technical specifications.
