Which game is better: Far Cry 5 or Assassin's Creed Odyssey?
Far Cry 5 is the better fit for immediate shooter action, while Assassin's Creed Odyssey suits players who want a solo RPG with 2 protagonist options. Both are open-world adventures from Ubisoft, but their moment-to-moment play feels different.
Far Cry 5 focuses on first-person weapons, liberating locations and optional co-op. Assassin's Creed Odyssey emphasizes melee combat, gear, dialogue choices and exploration across ancient Greece. Worth it for most players: choose by genre first, then compare editions. A season pass adds content, not a different core game.
Does Far Cry 5 have co-op, and does Assassin's Creed Odyssey?
Far Cry 5 supports 2-player co-op, while Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a 1-player game. That distinction is the clearest tie-breaker for friends choosing a Black Friday game to play together.
Far Cry 5 lets a second player join the campaign, making outpost fights and exploration more social. Odyssey is built around one protagonist and one save progression, so it fits a solo gaming session instead. Check the exact platform listing and online requirements before purchase, especially when matching versions with a friend.
Which editions should you buy on Black Friday 2026?
Standard editions include 1 base game, while Gold and Ultimate editions add bundled content. The right edition depends on whether you want the central campaign or plan to continue into the extra missions and story expansions.
For Far Cry 5, Gold is the expanded option; Standard keeps the purchase focused on the main Montana story. For Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Gold bundles the season pass and 2 major story expansions, while Ultimate adds deluxe digital items. Compare the included content on the listing, since edition names and platform versions matter.
Which platforms can you choose for these games?
Far Cry 5 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey have separate PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC listings, so match the product page to your system before checkout. The product name should state the platform clearly.
A PS4 copy is not an Xbox One copy, and a PC edition is not a console disc. Console players should also check whether a listing is physical or digital and confirm their console's compatibility details. If you own a newer console, verify backward compatibility and any edition-specific restrictions with the platform store.
Which game offers more value for a solo player?
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is the stronger solo RPG pick, while Far Cry 5 offers more value to solo players who also want optional 2-player co-op. The best fit comes down to the kind of campaign you want to spend time in.
Odyssey layers exploration with character progression, dialogue choices and two protagonist options. Far Cry 5 delivers faster shooter encounters and a flexible open-world structure. Both offer plenty to do beyond the main story, but their appeal differs: pick Odyssey for role-playing depth and Far Cry 5 for action-first missions.
Buying Guide
1. Match the game to your preferred genre
Far Cry 5 is a first-person shooter; Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a single-player RPG. Start with the gameplay loop you enjoy most, then compare editions.
2. Confirm your platform
PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions are separate listings. Verify the platform in the full product name and check compatibility before ordering.
3. Choose standard, Gold or Ultimate
Standard means the base game. Gold adds season-pass content, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey Ultimate also includes deluxe digital extras. Review the listed contents.
4. Decide whether co-op matters
Far Cry 5 supports optional 2-player co-op. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is for 1 player. Pick based on whether you want a shared campaign or a solo adventure.
5. Check the listing details
On Black Friday 2026, confirm edition, platform, physical or digital format, and included content. Similar titles can have different bundles and platform requirements.
