Should you buy an AMD Ryzen AI laptop or a Dell XPS 17?
The ASUS Zenbook S 16 UM5606WA and Dell XPS 17 9730 suit different priorities: one has a 16-inch OLED screen and a 12-core AMD processor, while the other offers a 17-inch screen and 14-core Intel processor options. Screen size and configuration matter more than the brand name alone.
Choose an AMD laptop when carrying comfort, a newer processor platform or a 14-inch size fits your routine. Choose a Dell XPS 17 when a broad workspace, discrete graphics configuration or UHD+ screen supports your work. My pick for most people is the ASUS Zenbook S 16 UM5606WA, because its 16-inch OLED panel balances screen area and portability.
Which laptop is best for travel and everyday use?
The HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fh and Acer Swift Go 14 AI SFG14-64 are the most travel-friendly picks here, with 14-inch screens and 10-core or 8-core processors. Both are easier to fit into a daily routine than a 17-inch Dell XPS 17.
For routine tasks, prioritize a comfortable keyboard, enough memory for your work and a screen that suits long sessions. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 AMD is another practical choice for office use, with a 14-inch 16:10 display. Skip it if a high-resolution OLED panel is your top priority; check the ASUS or HP instead.
Is the Dell XPS 17 better for creative work?
The Dell XPS 17 9730 with Intel Core i9-13900H and UHD+ touchscreen is the strongest Dell option for detail-focused creative work, with a 17-inch 3840 x 2400 screen and a 14-core processor. The exact graphics configuration matters for projects that rely on GPU acceleration.
A large, high-resolution display gives editors and designers more room for timelines, reference material and detailed images. The ASUS Zenbook S 16 UM5606WA offers an OLED alternative at 16 inches, while the 14-inch AMD models prioritize a smaller footprint. Compare the panel type and graphics listed for the exact unit, not just the family name.
What should you check in a Black Friday 2026 laptop listing?
The exact processor, memory, storage and display configuration determine what a Black Friday 2026 laptop listing actually delivers. Model families often include several configurations, so a product title alone is not enough to confirm the device matches your needs.
Check whether the panel is FHD+ or UHD+, whether the screen is touch-enabled and which graphics processor is included. For refurbished or open-box Dell XPS 17 listings, read condition details and warranty terms. For AMD laptops, match the exact processor name and memory amount against the product card before comparing offers.
How do AMD Ryzen AI laptops compare with Dell XPS 17 screens?
Dell XPS 17 models provide the largest screen in this guide at 17 inches, while AMD choices span 14-inch and 16-inch displays. Resolution also varies: the Dell UHD+ configuration reaches 3840 x 2400, and the Zenbook and OmniBook OLED options list 2880 x 1800.
A 17-inch screen helps when multiple windows or detailed creative projects share the display, but the chassis takes up more room. A 14-inch laptop is easier to carry, and a 16-inch model offers a middle ground. Choose based on your desk setup and travel habits, then confirm the specific screen resolution in the listing.
Buying Guide
Match processor to workload
Choose a processor configuration suited to your routine, not just the highest core count. The AMD options range from 8 to 12 cores; the listed Dell processors have 14 cores. Everyday work also depends on memory, cooling and software.
Pick the right display size
A 14-inch screen favors portability, a 16-inch screen balances space and mobility, and a 17-inch Dell supports a larger workspace. Compare resolution and panel type in addition to diagonal size.
Verify memory, storage and graphics
Configuration names do not guarantee a fixed amount of memory, storage or graphics hardware. Read the full listing details and confirm each component before buying, especially for Dell XPS 17 models.
Check condition and seller details
Older Dell XPS 17 configurations can appear as refurbished or open-box products. Review condition descriptions, included accessories, return terms and warranty coverage before choosing a listing.
Compare the complete offer
Compare the final listing details across retailers during Black Friday 2026. Consider configuration, condition, delivery terms and support alongside the offer itself; the lowest listed amount is not the only value measure.
