Which is better, Mullvad VPN or Proton VPN for Black Friday 2026?
Mullvad VPN Standard and Proton VPN Plus offer two distinct approaches: Mullvad supports 5 devices with minimal account details, while Proton supports 10 devices and adds Secure Core. The better plan depends on whether account simplicity or a richer feature set matters more.
Mullvad VPN Standard suits people who want a focused VPN and do not need a large device allowance. Proton VPN Plus gives households more connections and adds features for users who want additional privacy controls. Both services support established VPN protocols and offer apps for common platforms.
Before buying, compare each plan's renewal terms, supported devices and current feature list. Choose Proton VPN Plus for broader household use and bundled tools; choose Mullvad VPN Standard for a direct, privacy-focused setup.
What should you look for in a Black Friday VPN?
Proton VPN Plus, Mullvad VPN Standard and Surfshark Starter cover three key buying needs: feature depth, account simplicity and unlimited device connections. Compare those practical details before focusing on a seasonal promotion.
Start with the number of simultaneous connections your household needs. A five-device plan works for a smaller setup, while unlimited connections help families cover phones, laptops, tablets and other supported devices. Check app support for every device you plan to use.
Next, review the plan tier and renewal terms. Some providers reserve extra tools for higher tiers, and introductory terms do not always match renewal terms. Verify the exact features at checkout and select the service that meets your privacy, streaming and travel needs.
Is Mullvad VPN or Proton VPN better for privacy?
Mullvad VPN Standard emphasizes a low-detail account setup, while Proton VPN Plus includes Secure Core as an additional privacy feature. Both are credible options for people who want encrypted VPN connections, but their privacy approaches and account features differ.
Mullvad VPN Standard does not require an email address to create an account, an appealing distinction for users who want fewer account details attached to a subscription. Proton VPN Plus offers a broader set of security tools, including Secure Core, for users who want added routing options.
A VPN does not replace safe account practices, device updates or strong passwords. Review each provider's privacy documentation and app controls, then select the setup that matches your comfort level. Skip it if you need a VPN to guarantee complete anonymity.
Which VPN is best for streaming and travel?
Proton VPN Plus is the strongest all-around pick for streaming and travel in this group, with 10 connections and network coverage in 120-plus countries. ExpressVPN Basic is another practical traveler option, with 10 connections and coverage in 105 countries.
Server locations and streaming access change over time, so check the provider's current app and supported services for your destination. A large country count offers more location options, but does not guarantee access to every streaming library or identical connection quality.
Travelers should also confirm that their VPN app works on the devices they pack and that local network conditions support their preferred connection. Proton VPN Plus suits users seeking extra privacy features; ExpressVPN Basic favors a simple app experience.
Which VPN is best for multiple devices?
Surfshark Starter, Private Internet Access VPN Standard and Windscribe Pro VPN each support unlimited simultaneous connections, making them the clearest picks for users with many devices. Proton VPN Plus and NordVPN Basic each support 10 connections.
Unlimited connections simplify account sharing across a household, but each person still needs compatible apps and a secure account. Check the provider's current rules on account sharing and make sure every phone, tablet and computer is supported.
For a smaller setup, Mullvad VPN Standard covers five devices and IVPN Standard covers two. Count the devices that need simultaneous VPN access before purchase, including travel devices and shared computers, then compare plan terms against that number.
Buying Guide
Count your connected devices
Surfshark Starter supports unlimited simultaneous connections, while Mullvad VPN Standard supports 5. Count phones, laptops, tablets and shared devices before deciding whether an unlimited plan is useful.
Match privacy tools to your needs
Mullvad VPN Standard skips email-based account setup, while Proton VPN Plus offers Secure Core. Choose the privacy approach and controls you will actually use.
Check coverage for travel
ExpressVPN Basic covers 105 countries, and Proton VPN Plus lists 120-plus. Confirm locations and app availability for the places and devices in your travel plans.
Read plan and renewal terms
Compare the selected tier's included tools, subscription length and renewal terms before checkout. A Black Friday plan should fit beyond the first billing period.
Choose the right plan tier
NordVPN Basic and ExpressVPN Basic focus on VPN access, while other providers also offer higher tiers. Review each plan's included features so you do not pay for extras you do not need.
