Is WD My Book Duo better than Seagate One Touch for backups?

WD My Book Duo 16TB Desktop RAID Storage suits large stationary backups and supports RAID 0 and RAID 1. RAID 1 mirrors data across drives; RAID 0 combines capacity without mirroring.

Buying Guide

Choose capacity for your actual file library

Allow room for current files and future backups. LaCie Rugged Mini 2TB Portable External Hard Drive suits smaller travel collections; 5TB portable drives balance mobility and space; 8TB desktop drives and WD My Book Duo 16TB Desktop RAID Storage suit larger libraries.

Pick portable or desktop storage

Portable drives travel with a laptop and use compact formats. Desktop models need space and external power, but offer features such as larger capacities, multiple bays, or front USB ports.

Understand RAID before choosing a two-bay drive

WD My Book Duo 16TB Desktop RAID Storage supports RAID 0 and RAID 1. RAID 1 mirrors data; RAID 0 combines drives without mirroring. Neither replaces a separate backup.

Check the connection and your computer

Match the drive’s USB connection to your computer’s ports and check whether an adapter is needed. Confirm file-system and compatibility requirements before transferring important files.

Use Black Friday 2026 to compare features, not labels

Compare the exact model, capacity, drive layout, and included features. Portable drives, desktop drives, RAID systems, and hub-equipped models serve different needs, so choose by use case.
