Which is better for solo play: Wingspan or Pandemic Legacy?
Stonemaier Games Wingspan Board Game supports 1 solo player, while the Pandemic Legacy seasons are designed for 2–4 players. That makes Wingspan the straightforward choice for a solo session.
The Wingspan solo mode gives one player a way to enjoy the bird-card engine without organizing a group. Stonemaier Games Wyrmspan Board Game also supports 1 player, and Stonemaier Games Wingspan Asia Board Game offers solo play in a smaller standalone box.
Choose Z-Man Games Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 Blue Edition for shared decisions and campaign tension, not for solo gaming. Its changing story is built around a team tackling problems together.
Is Wingspan or Pandemic Legacy better for cooperative play?
Z-Man Games Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 Blue Edition is the stronger cooperative choice for 2–4 players who want a campaign. Players work as a team and see the story change across 12 in-game months.
Stonemaier Games Wingspan Board Game is competitive rather than a shared campaign: players build bird habitats and compare their scores. Solo play is available, but the main group experience is not the same kind of teamwork as Pandemic Legacy.
Pick a Pandemic Legacy season when your group enjoys shared pressure and can return to the campaign. Pick Wingspan for independent turns, strategic choices and a more flexible session.

The European expansion adds 81 bird cards, while the Oceania expansion adds 95 bird cards and new player boards. Both are aimed at players who already know the core game and want more variety.
For a standalone option, choose Stonemaier Games Wingspan Asia Board Game. The Asia box supports 1–2 players on its own and includes a Duet mode designed for two.
Which game has better replay value?
Stonemaier Games Wingspan Board Game is the better pick for repeat sessions without a fixed story because its 170 bird cards support varied combinations. Players can return to the engine-building challenge without progressing through a campaign.
Z-Man Games Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 Blue Edition has memorable campaign progression, but its 12-month story is designed to unfold over a sequence of sessions. The group’s choices shape that journey, so the first playthrough is a distinct experience.
Choose Wingspan for a game that fits occasional meetups and regular play alike. Choose Pandemic Legacy for a group that wants a shared story arc and is ready to make time for it.
What should you buy for Black Friday 2026?
Stonemaier Games Wingspan Board Game is the best all-around Black Friday 2026 pick for a flexible strategy game, while Z-Man Games Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 Blue Edition is the co-op campaign choice.
Match the box to your group before picking a favorite. Stonemaier Games Wingspan Asia Board Game is standalone for 1–2 players. Stonemaier Games Wyrmspan Board Game offers fantasy engine-building for 1–5 players.
