Which is better: Demon's Souls or Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart?
Demon's Souls is the better pick for players who want punishing combat, while Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the better pick for colorful action and a lighter tone. Both are single-player PS5 games, but their moment-to-moment play feels very different.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Demon's Souls Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 asks players to study attacks, manage stamina, and learn from defeat. Sony Interactive Entertainment Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 keeps momentum high with platforming, wild weapons, and quick shifts between worlds. Choose based on your preferred challenge, not just visual style.
How do the graphics and PS5 features compare?
Both games take advantage of PS5 hardware, but Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart makes its dimension-hopping action the headline feature, while Demon's Souls emphasizes atmosphere and combat detail. Demon's Souls also offers a Performance Mode targeting up to 60 fps.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart uses quick transitions between worlds to keep action flowing, and the DualSense controller's haptics and adaptive triggers add tactile effects. Demon's Souls pairs its gloomy environments with effects that make each encounter feel weighty. A capable display helps show off both games, but neither needs an elaborate setup to be enjoyable.
Which PS5 game is easier for beginners?
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the friendlier starting point for most new players, while Demon's Souls expects patience and willingness to repeat difficult encounters. Both games are designed for 1 player, so the choice is about solo play style rather than co-op.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart introduces weapons and movement through a brisk story campaign, giving players a steady stream of new tools. Demon's Souls is rewarding when players enjoy learning enemy behavior and exploring carefully, but frequent setbacks are part of its design. For a shared family library, check each game's age rating and preferred tone before choosing.
Which PS5 console should you buy for these games?
Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Disc Edition Console 1TB is the right fit for disc owners, and Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition Console 1TB suits players who buy downloads. Both consoles include a 1TB SSD.
The Disc Edition adds a drive for compatible PS5 and PS4 games and Ultra HD Blu-ray movies. The Digital Edition keeps the library digital, with no disc drive included. Consider how you already buy games before choosing: a physical collection, borrowed discs, or movie discs point toward the Disc Edition; a download-only library points toward Digital.
What should you add to a PS5 Black Friday 2026 setup?
A second Sony DualSense Wireless Controller White, Sony PULSE Elite Wireless Headset White, or WD_BLACK SN850P NVMe SSD for PS5 Consoles 1TB solves a different setup need. Pick the accessory that fixes your most frequent annoyance first.
The controller supports local multiplayer and keeps a spare ready. The headset adds wireless audio and a retractable microphone for party chat. The SSD expands internal space for installed games, while the Sony DualSense Charging Station keeps 2 compatible controllers charging in one place. Check console compatibility and available space before buying storage.
Buying Guide
Choose the game by play style
Pick Demon's Souls for demanding fights and dark fantasy. Pick Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for fast platforming, inventive weapons, and an upbeat story. Genre fit matters more than a small spec difference.
Decide whether you need a disc drive
Choose the Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Disc Edition Console 1TB if you use physical games or 4K Blu-ray movies. Choose the Digital Edition if your purchases and library are already digital.
Check storage needs before adding an SSD
The WD_BLACK SN850P NVMe SSD for PS5 Consoles 1TB adds internal space and includes a heatsink. Confirm your console model, installation comfort, and storage needs before adding an M.2 drive.
Prioritize accessories you will use
A second controller helps local play, a headset supports private audio and chat, and a charging station organizes two gamepads. Buy around your actual routine rather than filling every accessory slot.
Compare the complete setup
For Black Friday 2026, compare game editions, console type, storage, and included accessories together. Confirm product compatibility and included contents on the listing before checkout.
