Which game is better for Black Friday 2026: Forza Horizon 4 or Dark Souls Remastered?
Forza Horizon 4 is the better pick for open-world racing, while Dark Souls Remastered is the better pick for a demanding action RPG. The two games do not compete on genre; they suit different moods and play styles.
Choose Forza Horizon 4 if you want to drive across a large map, collect more than 450 cars, and experience four changing seasons. Choose Dark Souls Remastered if boss fights, route-finding, and mastering deliberate combat sound more rewarding. Worth it for most players comes down to genre preference, not a universal winner.
Forza Horizon 4 is no longer offered for new digital purchase through official storefronts as of 2026. Existing owners retain access, while new buyers should check physical-disc condition and account-linked content carefully.
Which Forza Horizon 4 edition should you choose?
Microsoft Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition for Xbox One is the straightforward choice for the base game, while Deluxe and Ultimate add content for players who want more. All three editions share the open-world racing foundation and its four-season setting.
Deluxe makes sense for vehicle fans interested in the Car Pass. Ultimate is the broadest package, with Fortune Island and LEGO Speed Champions among its major expansions. Check what the specific copy includes: used editions and account-linked entitlements do not always transfer in the same way as a physical disc.
Forza Horizon 4’s digital storefront status makes physical-copy details especially important in 2026. Read the listing closely, verify platform compatibility, and confirm whether add-on content is already redeemed.
Which Dark Souls Remastered platform is right for you?
Dark Souls Remastered for Nintendo Switch is the best pick for portable play, while the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions suit players who prefer a home setup. Each version centers on the same challenging action RPG campaign.
The Switch edition supports handheld and docked play, with a 30 fps target. PlayStation 4 and PC versions target up to 60 fps, while Xbox One is a straightforward choice for players already in that console ecosystem. Check the exact system and edition before buying.
Choose the platform you use most often and the screen you prefer. Portable access is a real advantage for Switch, but a home display and familiar controller setup are better fits for many players.
Are Forza Horizon 4 and Dark Souls Remastered good for different players?
Forza Horizon 4 suits players who want flexible sessions and a large selection of cars, while Dark Souls Remastered suits players who enjoy difficult encounters and focused exploration. Both offer plenty to do, but their moment-to-moment play feels completely different.
Forza’s open world supports casual cruising, races, and car collecting, so players can choose their pace. Dark Souls Remastered asks for attention: enemy moves, equipment choices, and routes all matter. A player who enjoys racing rarely needs a Souls-style challenge to get value from Forza, and the reverse is just as true.
Think about who will play and what they enjoy before choosing a gift. A familiar platform and preferred genre matter more than picking the edition with the longest feature list.
What should you check before buying either game on Black Friday?
Check platform compatibility, edition content, and ownership details before buying Forza Horizon 4 or Dark Souls Remastered. Those three details help avoid the most common surprises when shopping for games across console and PC.
For a physical copy, inspect the disc, case, and any included code details. For digital access, confirm the purchase is tied to the right account and system. Forza Horizon 4’s digital availability status makes that ownership check especially important; Dark Souls Remastered buyers should still confirm they are selecting the correct platform version.
Finally, match the edition to the recipient. Standard Forza is the core experience, Ultimate adds major expansions, and Dark Souls Remastered platform choice is mainly about where and how the player wants to play.
Buying Guide
Match the game to the player
Pick Forza Horizon 4 for open-world racing, car collecting, and flexible sessions. Pick Dark Souls Remastered for deliberate combat, tough bosses, and exploration. Genre fit is the quickest way to narrow the choice.
Choose the right Forza edition
Standard covers the base game, Deluxe adds the Car Pass, and Ultimate includes two major expansions. Compare the actual contents of a listing, especially for used copies with codes or account-linked extras.
Check platform compatibility
Match the game to the player’s Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, or Windows PC setup. Dark Souls Remastered has several platform options; the Forza editions in this guide are for Xbox One.
Verify ownership and included content
Forza Horizon 4 is no longer offered for new digital purchase through official storefronts as of 2026. Check account ownership or inspect a physical copy closely, and confirm add-on access before counting it as part of the purchase.
Pick a play format
Choose Nintendo Switch for portable Dark Souls Remastered play, or a home console or PC for a fixed setup. Consider screen size, controller preference, and where the recipient spends most of their gaming time.
