Which is better: Sly Cooper Collection or The Last Guardian?
Sony Computer Entertainment Sly Cooper Collection (PlayStation 3) is better for variety, while Sony Computer Entertainment The Last Guardian (PlayStation 4) is better for a focused, emotional story. The Sly collection includes 3 games, giving players a longer menu of stealth, platforming, and comic capers. The Last Guardian builds its identity around one journey and the evolving bond with Trico.
Pick Sly if you want quick missions, colorful characters, and a playful tone. Pick The Last Guardian if you enjoy quiet exploration, environmental puzzles, and patient storytelling. Neither game is a direct substitute for the other; the right choice depends on whether you want replayable variety or a singular adventure.
Worth it for most players: Sly Cooper Collection is the safer all-rounder for anyone with PlayStation 3 access, while The Last Guardian is the stronger personal pick for players drawn to atmospheric stories.
Do these PlayStation games work on the same console?
Sony Computer Entertainment Sly Cooper Collection (PlayStation 3) and Sony Computer Entertainment The Last Guardian (PlayStation 4) are designed for different console generations. The collection is a PlayStation 3 release; The Last Guardian is a PlayStation 4 release. Check the exact console model and game edition before checkout.
PlayStation 5 backward compatibility supports many PlayStation 4 games, but PlayStation 3 discs do not play directly in a standard PlayStation 5 console. Digital access to older games depends on the available service and region. Verify the supported platform for the specific edition rather than relying on a series name.
For a gift, match the product listing to the recipient's hardware first. A great game on an incompatible platform is still the wrong buy.
Which game has more content for Black Friday 2026?
Sony Computer Entertainment Sly Cooper Collection (PlayStation 3) offers the clearest quantity advantage, with 3 complete games in one collection. Sony Computer Entertainment The Last Guardian (PlayStation 4) offers 1 cohesive adventure instead of a bundle, with its appeal coming from atmosphere, puzzles, and the relationship with Trico.
More games does not automatically mean a better fit. Sly suits players who like switching between missions and revisiting different stories. The Last Guardian serves players who prefer a continuous narrative and a deliberate pace. Think about how the recipient plays, not only how many titles appear on the box.
For a collection-minded shopper, compare Sly Cooper Collection with Jak and Daxter Collection. For a story-minded shopper, compare The Last Guardian with ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection.
What should shoppers check before buying a used or older game?
Black Friday 2026 shoppers should confirm platform, edition, disc condition, and included content before choosing older PlayStation games. Physical listings should clearly state the console format and describe the disc and case condition. Digital listings should identify the account or store region requirements.
Collections deserve an extra content check. Sony Computer Entertainment Sly Cooper Collection (PlayStation 3) contains 3 games, while Sony Computer Entertainment ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection (PlayStation 3) contains 2. Confirm the listing matches the intended collection rather than a single-game edition or a different platform release.
For gifts, keep the receipt and review the seller's return policy. These steps make platform mismatches and incomplete listings easier to resolve.
Which alternative should you choose if neither lead game fits?
Sony Computer Entertainment Jak and Daxter Collection (PlayStation 3) is a strong alternative for players who want 3 action-platforming adventures, while Sony Interactive Entertainment Ratchet & Clank (PlayStation 4) suits players who want bright, fast combat. Each offers a different route into PlayStation platforming.
Choose Sony Computer Entertainment Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PlayStation 3) for another stealth-led caper, especially if the player already enjoys the series. Choose Sony Interactive Entertainment Shadow of the Colossus (PlayStation 4) for exploration and 16 landmark boss encounters.
These alternatives help narrow the mood and format. Stealth fans should look at Sly; action fans should consider Ratchet or Jak; players drawn to atmosphere should compare The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus.
Buying Guide
Start with console compatibility
Match the game to the console before comparing anything else. Sly Cooper Collection, Jak and Daxter Collection, and ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection are PlayStation 3 releases. The Last Guardian, Shadow of the Colossus, and Ratchet & Clank are PlayStation 4 releases.
Choose the gameplay mood

Compare included games
The Sly Cooper Collection and Jak and Daxter Collection each include 3 games. ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection includes 2. Standalone releases give one main adventure, so choose a bundle when variety matters most.
Check the listing details
For physical copies, review the platform, disc condition, and completeness. For digital editions, confirm the store region and account requirements. Black Friday 2026 shopping goes smoother when the edition and console match the recipient's setup.
Buy for the player, not the headline
A three-game bundle works well for players who enjoy variety. A focused story makes a better gift for someone who prefers atmosphere and narrative. Choose based on their play style rather than the biggest title or collection label.
